The V8 version features a 4.8 litre large-capacity engine producing 350 hp/258 kW and 510 Nm of maximum torque. This makes the X5 250 km/h fast.

The Hamann HM 4.8 capacity enlargement includes the machining of the cylinder block and the installation of a long-throw crankshaft, special connecting rods and pistons with a larger diameter. In addition, there are fitted sports camshafts and a stainless steel high performance exhaust system with four chromium-plated tips, 76 millimeters in diameter. The Hamann sports exhaust is also available for the standard engine.

After the conversion, the X5 from Hamann Motorsport produces 350 hp/258 kW at 5700 rpm. Even more important for superior on-road operation and outstanding cross-country power is the torque increase to 510 Nm, available at 4000 rpm.

The performance figures of the new BMW X5 as improved by the Hamann HM 4.8 engine means the sprint from 0 - 100 km/h takes 6.7 seconds only. After recalibrating the electronic top speed limiter, the maximum speed is at 250 km/h.

The finished product includes new wheel/tire combinations, sports suspensions and brakes, body styling kits and interior upgrades.

A prerequisite for the higher top speed is the fitting of Hamann Motorsport wheel/tire combinations with a 19 or 20-inch diameter. The photo of the car shows the new vehicle with modular Hamann PG3 light alloy wheels measuring  9.5Jx20 with 295/40 ZR 20 ContiSportContact tires.

The X5 can also be equipped with Hamann PG 10.5Jx19 multi-piece wheels with 295/45 ZR 19 tires.

The modifications also can include a Hamann lowering kit, a complete Hamann sports suspension and a Hamann high performance brake system which will provide optimal deceleration under any driving condition.

The Hamann body styling kit contains components for front, sides and tail. The kits are made from a combination of plastic and stainless steel, and include subtle fender flarings and a roof spoiler.

The interior of the X5 can be upgraded with sporty accessories such as an ergonomically shaped multi-function airbag-sports-steering-wheel, a 300 km/h tachometer or foot rest, and a gear shift lever knob made from aluminum. The cockpit becomes even more exclusive with custom-made Hamann full leather trims, which are available in a wide variety of colors.
