The American Le Mans
Series is comprised of two different types of race cars divided into two
categories and five separate classes.
The Prototype category features open cockpit prototype World Sports Cars
(WSC), Le Mans Prototypes (LMP), and Grand Touring
Prototype (GTP) class cars.
The Grand Touring category features the Grand Touring S (GTS) class cars, formerly known
as GT2, and Grand Touring (GT) cars, formerly known as GT3. Both classes feature
purpose-built race cars with an emphasis on spectator car identification.
