The insidious thing about radiator hoses is that they can look perfect on the outside, but be completely rotten on the inside. Unless you check them regularly, a normal-looking BMW Radiator Hose can give way, usually on a boiling hot day when you’re hundreds of miles from anywhere. You can do a basic test of your radiator hoses by squeezing them lightly (while the engine is cool). They should offer some resistance. If you feel any spots that are excessively soft, replace the BMW radiator hose.
Your owner’s manual probably has some guidelines for when you should replace all your radiator hoses. Follow those instructions, or if there are none, every three years is a safe replacement schedule for radiator hoses. So stay on the lookout for any oil contamination or cracking on the outside, squeeze now and then to test the insides, and replace your radiator hoses regularly. You’ll reduce your chances of getting stranded by a bad BMW radiator hose.
