Park lights, or parking lights, are one of those automotive relics that still appear on every new car even though no one really remembers why they were put there in the first place. You know what we’re talking about: Your park lights are the lights that come on usually with the first “stop” on your headlight controls (or via a separate switch on some vehicles). Most import parking lights, like your BMW Park Light, are amber bulbs, though some are also red. And your parking lights look kind of cool when they’re on at dusk, prior to the time you need your full headlights. But no one we know ever uses them for parking.
If you have problems with your BMW park lights, the first place to look is at the bulbs themselves. A bad filament or burned out bulb can cause all sorts of odd problems, even in lights downstream from the burned-out one. The next place to check is the headlight switch. Since your BMW park lights are controlled by the headlight switch, a short there could cause a malfunction too.
