BMW owners in particular are finicky about their parts, and rightfully so. After all, you want to preserve the aspects of your car that make it unique—uniquely BMW. That’s why replacing parts with correct, BMW OEM Parts is so important. BMW OEM parts are “original equipment manufacturer” parts. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they have the BMW roundel stamped on them, but they’re parts manufactured to the same specifications by the same manufacturer as the parts that you’re replacing.
It’s when the accountants get hold of your BMW muffler design that the problems start. They specify things like mild steel instead of stainless steel in the construction, which is great except that it rusts in about six minutes. Of course, when your stock BMW muffler rusts out, you get to install a high-performance stainless-steel BMW muffler, so maybe those accountants are doing you a favor after all.
