Bmw Ball Joints

Anyone old enough to remember BMW Ball Joints kingpin-based suspension systems probably still considers the ball joint one of the great advances in automotive suspension. Ball joints, like your BMW ball joints, are nifty little devices that can support an enormous load while still allowing freedom of motion on a pivot point. The most common place to find a BMW ball joint is in the front suspension, where two ball joints locate the steering knuckle in the control arms. Of course, struts are frequently used in place of upper ball joints these days, but your car still relies on BMW ball joints for its famous BMW handling and steering.

Original ball joints usually had grease fittings for periodic lubrication. Modern ball joints, however, come sealed at the factory with a lifetime lubricant inside. Like so many other items on our cars, the ball joints are maintenance-free until they wear out, and then you need new ball joints. So enjoy your ride, but when you develop clunking noises in your front end, or a technician tells you that new BMW ball joints are needed, take care of the situation promptly. Lose a ball joint and you could lose a wheel, and that'll ruin your day in a hurry.
