Z3
Coupe, Roadster and M
|
The next generation Z3 is
the BMW Z4.
When it was introduced in 1996, the BMW Z3 initiated a welcome revival of
the roadster; a traditional, open-air sports car. BMW has steadily evolved
the Z3 into a Series, moving from the initial 4-cylinder roadster to a line
of 6-cylinder roadsters and coupes.
For 2002, Z3 sports cars take another evolutionary step with the
introduction of new engines, a new and sportier automatic transmission, and
further equipment upgrades.
Here is the model line up for the 2002 Z3 models (excluding M Cars). Prices quoted represent base price at USA port of entry, including destination charge.
Z3 Roadster 2.5i
Replacing the 2.3 model, the $31,870 model (same as 2000) has increased
power to 184 hp. Fog lights and cruise control are now standard, and the
optional Sport Package combines special wheels and sport seats at value
pricing.
Z3 Roadster 3.0i
Superseding the 2.8 model, the $38,470 model (up 3.6% from 2000) has increased power to 225 hp with the addition of the M54 3.0-liter DOHC
24-valve inline 6-cylinder engine. Standard wheels and tires are upgraded
from 16-in. to 17-in., the front brakes are larger, and the exterior styling
has been upgraded.
Z3 Coupe 3.0i
Like the Z3 Roadster 3.0i, the coupe has increased power to 225 hp with the addition of the M54 3.0-liter engine. Standard wheels and tires have
been upgraded to 17-in., and the front brakes are larger. Interior design upgrades introduced in the 2000 roadsters now also appear in the coupe, and the coupe has a new front-end look as well. At $38,270, the coupe 3.0i is up 3.1% from the 2000 Z3
Coupe 2.8.
