X5 3.0 SAV

	With the X5 3.0, BMW continues the tradition of the inline 6-cylinder engine, but introduces a new powerplant, the M54. Developed primarily for use in the X5 with higher torque and power requirements, the new engine also delivers better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

The new M54 6-cylinder engine is larger than the 6 used in the 328i, 528i and Z3 2.8. This was achieved by lengthening the stroke from 84 to 89.6 millimeters, increasing piston displacement from 2793 to 2979 cc. Torque is up from 206 to 214 lb-ft. and horsepower from 193 to 225 hp.
