BMW X3 SAV
One of the
highlights of the recent IAA show at Frankfurt, Germany.
|
|
The
BMW X3 is designed to combine the
agility of a compact BMW with the driving experience of the
BMW X5.
This new BMW model series is entering the market in three models:
-
BMW X3 3.0i powered by a 170 kW (231 bhp)
petrol engine
-
BMW X3 3.0d with a 150 kW (204 bhp) diesel
-
BMW X3 2.5i
with a 141 kW (192 bhp) petrol power unit.

A feature of the X3 introduced at the IAA is the all-new xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The 'heart' of
this new system is the electronically controlled multiple-plate clutch
enabling xDrive to spread out drive forces infinitely and fully variably
between the front and rear axle. The system immediately recognizes the
need for a change in power distribution and responds extremely
quickly, on the road usually before the wheel involved has even lost
its grip. |
