| No cars were built
during the war years. Following the war, BMW was prevented from
building cars for several years. A full recovery took
decades.

1950's

The
design model for the new Z8, the BMW 507 had its debut at the 1955 Frankfurt
Motor Show. The
beautiful light alloy bodywork was attached to a strong frame, and the engine was the then new
aluminum 160 hp V8. Only 252 507's were ever built. Today, it
is one of the most prized BMW collectibles.

1960's

At the Frankfurt, Germany, auto show in September 1961, BMW displayed a prototype of a
car it called the "New Class" sedan. The New Class was so good that it would become the blueprint for virtually every production BMW
made over the next three decades.

5 Series E12
model was launched in the year of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich
