The 2800 featured an anti-roll bar, rear self-leveling struts and an electric rear window
defroster.
Leather upholstery came as standard equipment on the 2800. Other luxury features included an electric rear window defroster and upgraded interior trim.
The rear Boge Nivomat self-leveling struts were discontinued in 1971.
With the larger engine, the 2800 had 20 more horsepower than the 2500.
The 2800 offered the choice of a 4-speed manual transmission or a ZF 3-speed automatic. Although they were enthusiastic about the manual transmission, Road & Track called the
automatic "the worst we've ever encountered in any car."
In North America, the 2800 was marketed as the Bavaria.
