Information

The Touring
models were one of the world's first hatch backs. The cars were
produced with 1.6, 1.8 and 2-liter carburetor versions. A 2-liter
fuel injected version was also made using the tii engine. The 2000
Touring model was available with an automatic transmission in 1971
and 1972.
The rear
seat could be folded down in the Touring, providing a lot of room.
Unlike the later 2002 Sedans, the Touring body continued to use
round tail lights throughout its production run.

Manufactured
from 1971 to 1972, there were only 29,230 units built. The 2002
Touring had a top speed of 107 mph/173 kph. Like all New Class
models, BMW used the 1602, 1802, 2002 and 2002 tii designations
for the Tourings.
Today, the
touring concept has been revived by cars like the BMW
318ti series.
