MINI Cooper S appears on the market thirty-nine years after the original 'S' was introduced as the flagship of the Mini range.
Owned by celebrities such as Peter Sellers, various Beatles and Steve McQueen, the 'S' established the Cooper legend.
The Mini Cooper S dominated the Monte Carlo rally in the mid-sixties, winning in'64, '65 and'67 and, controversially in '66 when it was subsequently disqualified. Touring car and saloon car victories were also being racked up at this time. The 'S' was also
immortalized in celluloid with the release of The Italian Job in
1969 starring Michael Caine.

Interior

Engine
The "heart" of the MINI Cooper S is the same compact, transverse, 4-cylinder engine from MINI One and MINI Cooper, but uses
a state-of-the-art supercharger and intercooler technology to extract an impressive 163 bhp at 6,000 rpm.

|
|
|

|
Transmission
Perfectly complementing the uprated engine is a new six-speed version of MINI's highly-praised short-shifting manual gearbox allied to a carefully tuned sports suspension set up.

|
Suspension
Sports suspension PLUS (an option on MINI Cooper) and MINI's direct
electro-hydraulic steering, with just 2.5 turns of the wheel from lock to lock, offers sharp handling and greater feedback, resulting in a kart-like driving experience. Reinforced McPherson spring struts with a reinforced anti-roll bar at the front provide outstanding stability on winding roads without compromising motorway refinement.

Drive
Train
MINI's multi-arm rear axle is unique in this segment of the market and, again, is supported by a reinforced
stabilizer bar ensuring optimum road-holding at all times. Balanced weight distribution, front to rear, also aids the stunning road-holding capabilities and razor-sharp turn-in.
Sixteen inch light-alloy wheels wear 195/55 R 16 tires as standard and optional 205/45 tires running on impressive seventeen inch S-spoke wheels are available.
