BMW Cellular
"Mayday" Phone
|
The "Mayday"
emergency call system automatically transmits latitude, longitude,
cell phone number and VIN number to
BMW Roadside Assistance in the event of airbag deployment,
alarm activation or system monitor. Even if the alarm has not been
triggered, a stolen vehicle can be tracked by placing a call to a BMW Center
where the GPS tracking can be activated.
"Mayday" is BMW's ultimate cellular connection to roadside assistance, collision related emergency response, car theft inquiry (using BMW's accessory alarm system) and remote vehicle unlock.
Combining the satellite technology used in GPS (Global Positioning Systems) along with
the advanced features of a cellular phone, BMW has created the "smart" phone.
Through a sophisticated electronic tracking system the BMW
"Mayday" phone is able to monitor your vehicle's location.
- "Mayday" will automatically call for emergency
assistance upon deployment of any of the vehicle's airbags.
- If at anytime your BMW alarm system is triggered, the
"Mayday" phone automatically contacts the BMW Service Center alerting them to your situation.
This feature is only available in conjunction with the BMW Alarm System.
- If
your BMW is stolen, as soon as it is reported stolen to the BMW Service Center, the advanced "GPS" in your BMW "Mayday" Mobile Cellular Telephone System provides coordinates to the location of your BMW.
- If you lock your keys inside the car,
you can call the BMW Service Center's toll free number from any outside phone. Provide the BMW Service Representative with your security password. The Representative calls your vehicle's "Mayday" phone and transmits a remote signal that unlocks your car doors.

BMW CPT7000 Cellular Phone
|
Talk on the phone without sacrificing the joy of driving.
The
BMW CPT7000 Cellular Phone System includes the Vibracall messaging
system, a large capacity phone book, steering wheel mounted controls,
and a telephone antenna.
All 2001 models are pre-wired for easy installation of the BMW Digital CPT7000 phone system. All
2001 7 Series models have the CPT7000 phone system as standard
equipment.
The multi-function steering wheel controls allow you to make calls without taking your eyes off the road. During a conversation, automatic radio muting and CD pausing help eliminate distraction.
Digital technology can reduce background noise and increase network capacity, so you can get clearer signals and connect more often,
even during high volume periods.
It takes one press of a button to access information, and to place and receive calls while you're behind the wheel. The portable handset lifts out and goes anywhere, with its programmed data and functions intact.
Convenience features include a versatile messaging system, the VibraCall alert, a smart button for simple access to key functions, a lithium ion battery for extended calling, and a large capacity phone book.
Models are available with either CDMA or TDMA digital technology. All phones are dual mode, allowing for automatic switching between digital and analog technology. CDMA phones have subscription dependent internet minibrowser capability where service is available.
Using the multifunction steering wheel, you control access to the phone book and the phone itself. Names, numbers and messages appear on your radio display, instrument panel display, Multifunction Display or on-board monitor.
