The
BMW Z3 used in the movie Golden Eye was one of the first Bond cars made outside
of Great Britain, and the first Bond film for Pierce Brosnan.

 |
First released in the summer of
1996, the BMW Z3 from Golden Eye had some of the most amazing features
ever found on a Bond car.
|
The Z3 contains the standard bullet
proofing, full SATNAV tracking equipment, satellite downlink capabilities, a rear
parachute, all-points radar, a great sound system, and Stinger missiles!

Q was especially proud
of the Stinger missiles behind the headlights. "Good for unwinding after a rough day at the
office", he said.
Unfortunately, the Z3 played a very short role in
the movie.
| As one
reviewer said, "One of the most disappointing things about
Golden Eye is that apart from beautiful bodywork, the 2-seater convertible Roadster features little in the film. It's a real shame we don't see much of this baby in action, with it involved in high-speed chases. It doesn't even get wrecked!" |

Did You Know?
|
Pierce Brosnan received a BMW 850
CSI from BMW, for his promotion of the BMW Z3 in Golden Eye.
Shortly, he was caught by the police doing 120 mph (190 kph). He was not
given a speeding ticket, but instead interrogated about the bungee jump
stunt in the movie!
