Interstate Highways presents a list of all existing Interstate Highways, excluding proposed new Interstates.

Interstate system info from the Federal Highway Administration has history, trivia and more. In the USA, you can obtain a free copy of their  interstate route log, listing all existing Interstate highways and lots of facts. 

Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956: Creating The Interstate System provides a history of the decisions leading to the Interstate Highway System, including urban routes. By the way, the system is officially called The Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways, named for the former US President who signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act.
