Profiles
|
The BMW
Profiles series focuses on the model histories of BMW classics and
the company's motorsport involvement. Milestones such as the BMW
"Baroque Angel" from the 501/502 series are featured, as well as the
history of BMW motorcycles made in Berlin and BMW's Formula racing
involvement between 1966 and 2000. Each of these six high-quality
books offers an authentic account of fascinating classics and their
era - from BMW's very first motorcycle, the R 32, all the way to the
historic BMW coupés.

Profile 1 |
In 1923, the triumphs of the R23 marked the debut of BMW's first
motorcycle - developed in the record time of only five weeks and
yet an engineering sensation.
It
was the beginning of a glorious era that has continued through
to the present day almost without interruption. This book is the
first authorized complete documentation of all BMW motorcycles
produced by the original Munich factory, spanning the years
between 1923 and 1969. It contains some previously unpublished
illustrations, a reprint of an original motorcycle advertising
poster and an extensive section of technical data.
108 pages, lavishly illustrated, available in German and
English. |

|

Profile 2 |
A stunning counterpoint to hard times: the story of BMW cars
after the war began with a luxury saloon.
The
501 and 502 "baroque angels" were as unaffordable as they were
sensational - in those difficult days, they seemed like a dream
from another world. But they both nonetheless represented
milestones. They marked the beginning of a remarkable chapter in
German car manufacturing history, which is related here in
numerous contemporary articles, illustrations and drawings.
Enclosed with the book is the reprint of an original brochure
dating from 1952.
112 pages, lavishly illustrated, available in German only. |

|

Profile 3 |
The BMW models 1600-2, 1802 and 2002 and their numerous variants
are already regarded as classics of more recent automobile
history.
At
the time that they appeared on the scene, they were the epitome
of a new kind of driving pleasure - sporting and dynamic.
Through these characteristics, the 02 Series models have become
cult objects, the inimitable incarnation of the spirit of the
1960s and 70s.
The book brings this exciting era back to life. Many of the
illustrations are published for the first time, giving a unique
view behind the scenes. The book comes with a high-quality
reprint of the rare BMW 2002 turbo brochure.
140 pages, lavishly illustrated, available in German and
English.

Profile 4 |
In 1969, production of BMW motorcycles was relocated from Munich
to the new factory in Berlin.
This
move was itself symbolic of the changes that the motorcycle has
undergone since then: what used to be a mere form of transport
for people of limited means has since become the very epitome of
freedom on wheels. BMW motorcycles from Berlin have been a major
contributing factor in maintaining the fascination of "biking"
up to the present day. This book - the sequel to volume 1 of the
Profiles series - presents these machines in detail, in
chronological order.
128 pages, richly illustrated, available in German and English. |

|

Profile 5 |
Volume 5 of the BMW Profiles series is devoted to one of the
greatest challenges in car design - the coupé.
This
now familiar term, which originally referred to a kind of
"cut-off" horse-drawn carriage, has been applied to BMW models
that have made motoring history since the early 1930s up to the
present day. Their elegance and aesthetic appeal, coupled with
their dynamic performance, have made them glittering stars of
their respective generations.
This book tells the story of these coveted beauties -
illustrated with construction drawings, rare design sketches and
unique photographs.
180 pages, lavishly illustrated, available in German and
English. |

|

Profile 6 |
Volume 6 of the BMW Profile Series is specialized on the most
fascinating aspect of the BMW history - racing cars and engines
of Formula 1,2,3.
Topical issues in the time of Formula season 2000; developments,
outcomes, and historical background, new aspects of legendary
progenitors in the first half of 20th century. The book revives
the innovative spirit of the wild 60s and 70s. The book
illuminates a parade display on Formula 1 engines - including
the world champion turbo. Of course there is also a detailed
chapter dedicated to the restart with the BMW Williams Grand
Prix Team.
280 pages, lavishly illustrated, available in German and
English.
