BMW's 5 Series E39 M5 features the optional M Sound System with Enhanced Bass.

The M Sound System incorporates the standard M5 Digital Sound Processing (DSP) system with two-way coaxial midrange front speakers.

Existing subwoofers are replaced with two ten-inch free air subwoofers.

The M Sound System with Enhanced Bass includes:

• dual 10" free-air subwoofers (no enclosure) for substantial bass performance
• front-door-mounted mid-range upgraded to coaxial speakers
• anti-theft AM/FM stereo/cassette/CD audio system with 10 speakers
• Radio Data System (RDS)
• Digital Sound Processing (DSP)
• 6-disc CD changer
• 4-channel FM diversity antenna

The front door mid-range speakers and 10" subwoofers utilize Kevlar core material for better power handling.
